THE ART OF VANDALISM raccoglie fotografie analogiche e alcuni testi incentrati sulla pratica dei throwup sui treni della metropolitana di Roma. Le immagini coprono un periodo che va dalla metà degli anni 90 fino ai primi del 2000, considerato generalmente come la Golden Age dei graffiti romani.
Con l'avvicinarsi della fine del millennio, la progressiva saturazione e stratificazione dei treni e l'aumento del numero dei writers ha portato alcune crew a concentrarsi sull'esecuzione di tag e throwup in maniera quasi ossessiva allo scopo di mantenere una visibilità ed una presenza costanti sulle fiancate dei convogli. Si é cosí generata nel tempo un'estetica caotica e selvaggia che sembra tutt'ora sfuggire a qualsiasi tentativo di inquadrarla in una concezione di Bellezza comunemente accettata.

THE ART OF VANDALISM is a collection of analog photographs and texts focusing on the practice of throwups on Rome's metro trains. The images cover a period from the mid 90s to the early 2000s, which is generally considered to be the Golden Age of Roman graffiti. As the end of the millennium drew near, the gradual saturation and stratification of graffiti on the trains and the growing number of writers pushed some crews to concentrate almost obsessively on the execution of tags and throwups in order to maintain a constant presence on the sides of the trains. A wild and chaotic aesthetic that still to this day defies all commonly accepted definitions of Beauty.
